think setting Healthy Personal Boundaries are an expression of self-respect<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 and a statement about self-responsibility. <\/span><\/p><p>They are designed to protect our health, happiness and wellbeing by not allowing other people, situations or opinions to move into our sacred personal space and infiltrate areas they are not welcome.<\/p><p>If you feel uncomfortable with someone else in your space, if you feel angry when other\u2019s won\u2019t listen, or when other\u2019s continue to mistreat you or behave in inappropriate ways,\u00a0<b>then you may need to step up and start getting clear and firm about your personal boundaries.<\/b><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Healthy boundaries are necessary to protect all areas of your life.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">For that reason, I\u2019ve always put them into four separate categories:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3507d95 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3507d95\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> determine whether you feel comfortable giving or lending your belongings such as your money, car, clothes, or books and under what terms.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">2. <b>Physical\u00a0boundaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> help you determine your safety, respect and comfort levels, being clear on who may enter your space or touch you and under what circumstances.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">3. <b>Mental boundaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> apply to your thoughts, values, feelings, and opinions and your right to have them even when others disagree or disparage you unfairly.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">4. <b>Emotional boundaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> protect you from assuming responsibility, guilt or shame for someone else\u2019s negative words, problems or behaviours, and not taking others\u2019 comments personally.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of feeling angry and resentful at being used or undervalued, <\/span><b>we have an opportunity to start loving ourselves by the same standard we often behave towards others.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Think of it as a reciprocal respect.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you get clear on and affirm your personal boundaries, it\u2019s akin to boldly declaring to the Universe,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is what I want, and that is what I don\u2019t want.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To those in your circle, it\u2019s confidently saying:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section Boundaries:<\/strong><\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ba7cb75 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ba7cb75\" boundary you are setting. <\/strong>You are only responsible for clearly and respectfully communicating it.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Setting boundaries takes practice and determination.<\/strong> Don\u2019t let anxiety about what others will think, or low self-esteem prevent you from taking care of yourself.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>When you feel anger or resentment or find yourself whining or complaining <\/strong>about someone is treating you, it\u2019s probably a sign that you need to set a boundary.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>When you identify the need to set a boundary, <strong>do it clearly, calmly, firmly, respectfully,<\/strong> and in as few words as possible. No need to justify, get angry, or apologise for the boundary you are setting. You are well within your right. <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">If a boundary upsets the other person, be confident knowing it is not your problem. Some people &#8211; especially those accustomed to controlling, abusing, or manipulating you &#8211; might test you in the early days. Plan on it, expect it, but remain firm.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Remember, your behaviour must match the boundaries you are setting.<\/strong> You cannot successfully establish a clear boundary if you send mixed messages by apologising.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Learning to set healthy boundaries takes time and support.<\/strong> Self-awareness and learning to be assertive are the first steps.<\/p><p><strong>Communicating healthy boundaries and enforcing them<\/strong>, builds self-worth and confidence and truly makes you a happier person from the inside out.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f44b32e elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"f44b32e\"
